A high-performance, zero-overhead, extensible Python compiler using LLVM
Features
- A high-performance compiler that compiles Python code to native machine code with no runtime overhead
- Speedup of 10–100x or more over Python on a single thread
- Performance is on par with, and sometimes better than, C/C++
- Unlike Python, supports native multithreading
- Codon supports almost all of Python's syntax, but it is not a drop-in replacement. Large codebases need modifications
