CELP (Code Excitation Linear Prediction) is a speech coding technique; G.729, AMR, iLBC EVRC, and others, which are mostly used today, are CELP-based speech coders.
This technique was developed on the assumption that speech can be obtained through linear prediction (linear_prediction). Speech coding consists of linear prediction coefficients and an excitation signal. In general, the linear prediction coefficients are encoded using LSP, and the excitation signal is encoded using several codebooks. Coding techniques developed on the basis of CELP include ACELP and CS-CELP.
