Clojure is a dialect of the Lisp programming language created by Rich Hickey, and a general-purpose functional language. The language emphasizes programming with immutable values and time-progression constructs, in order to make it easier to develop more robust programs, especially multithreaded programs.
Clojure runs on the Java virtual machine, the Common Language Runtime (CLR), and JavaScript engines. Like other Lisp languages, Clojure treats code as data and has a sophisticated macro system.
