In physics, classical mechanics is one of the two major sub-fields of mechanics, which is concerned with the set of physical laws describing the motion of bodies under the action of a system of forces. Classical mechanics is the branch of physics that describes the relationship between the forces acting on objects and their motion. It is also called "Newtonian mechanics," after Newton, who formulated Newton's laws of motion.
