ccache - a fast compiler cache.
ccache is a compiler cache. It speeds up recompilation by caching previous compilations and detecting when the same compilation is being done again. Supported languages are C, C++, Objective-C and Objective-C++.
ccache creates a folder named .ccache in the user's directory, where it hashes and stores object files. It hashes the source code after it has gone through the preprocessor, and if there is object code matching that key, it skips compilation and simply returns that object.
How to install
To install on Ubuntu:
On macOS:
Use ccache with CMake
# Configure CCache if available
find_program(CCACHE_FOUND ccache)
if(CCACHE_FOUND)
set_property(GLOBAL PROPERTY RULE_LAUNCH_COMPILE ccache)
set_property(GLOBAL PROPERTY RULE_LAUNCH_LINK ccache)
endif(CCACHE_FOUND)
