Browsh is a fully-modern text-based browser. It renders anything that a modern browser can; HTML5, CSS3, JS, video and even WebGL. Its main purpose is to be run on a remote server and accessed via SSH/Mosh or the in-browser HTML service in order to significantly reduce bandwidth and thus both increase browsing speeds and decrease bandwidth costs.

Features

  • Supports HTML5, CSS3, JS, Video, WebGL, etc. in SSH/TTY environments
  • Videos/images are reproduced as graphically as possible in the terminal using UTF-8 half-blocks
  • Mouse support, including clicking links and even drawing lines
  • Runs Firefox headless, connects to the web server, and converts web pages to fit the terminal via an extension
    • Sends a web page as a single HTML/Text, minimizing the web traffic sent to the terminal
  • Single binary written in Go, requires Firefox 57 or later
  • Supports various Linux, Mac, and Windows
