Bioinformatics is a discipline that deals with biological problems, mainly at the molecular level, using applied mathematics, information science, statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence, chemistry, biochemistry, and more. The research areas of computational biology sometimes overlap with systems biology. Its main research areas are diverse, including sequence alignment, gene finding, genome assembly, protein structure alignment, protein structure prediction, prediction of gene expression, protein–protein interactions, and evolutionary models.
