Binary space partitioning

lastmod 2022-03-10created 2022-03-102 edits

Binary Space Partitioning (BSP) is a technique for recursively subdividing a Euclidean space into convex sets by hyperplanes. The subdivision process creates a tree structure called a BSP tree.

The technique was originally introduced in 3D computer graphics to improve rendering efficiency, but it is used in many fields, such as constructive solid geometry (CSG) in CAD, collision detection in robotics, and rendering complex spaces in 3D computer games.
