A fake software HDMI adapter for Intel/M1 Macs

Features

• M1 Macs have problems with custom resolutions
  • HiDPI "Retina" resolutions are not supported on monitors below 4K resolution
• Open source that creates a virtual monitor as if a 4K HDMI dummy plug with HiDPI support were plugged in
  • The dummy monitor's screen resolution and scaling can be set as desired
  • HiDPI is available even in headless use (Mac mini/clamshell)
  • Scaling is also supported for Sidecar resolutions
• Advantages over hardware dongles
  • Does not occupy an HDMI port
  • Supports various HiDPI resolutions
