You can use Yarn Berry by downloading the latest version of Yarn from NPM and setting the version to Berry.
Console logs roughly like the following are printed:
warning package.json: License should be a valid SPDX license expression
➤ YN0000: Retrieving https://repo.yarnpkg.com/3.4.1/packages/yarnpkg-cli/bin/yarn.js
➤ YN0000: Saving the new release in .yarn/releases/yarn-3.4.1.cjs
➤ YN0000: Done in 0s 388ms
This makes a few changes: The .yarnrc.yml file is created.
And the file at the path assigned to yarnPath is created. Do not add this file to .gitignore. Add it to version control. (needs verification)
The following is added at the end of the package.json file:
{
...
"packageManager": "[email protected]"
}
It contains information about the package manager.
Now, let's install packages with yarn install.
The contents of the .yarnrc.yml file change:
Change it to pnp:
VCS Ignore Files
If you use Zero-Installs:
If you do not use Zero-Installs:
cache folder
Troubleshooting
YN0050: The cache-folder option has been deprecated; use rc settings instead
Remove the --cache-folder .yarn command-line option.

If you installed node locally using n, then installed and ran yarn for a local project and got an error like the following,

node:internal/modules/cjs/loader:998
throw err;
^

Check the .yarnrc.yml file.
In a case like the above, the yarn executable may not exist at that path. Check the path carefully again.
