AirPlay is a protocol stack developed by Apple. It lets you wirelessly stream multimedia content such as music, video, and photos, along with related information, from Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to other devices. It can only be used between Apple devices and Apple software, but Apple licenses AirPlay music reception alone to speaker manufacturers through its certification process.
Starting with Apple TV version 6.0, FairPlay security technology was applied, and devices without this technology cannot use AirPlay.
