Native Korean words

Native Korean words (韓國語의 固有語), also called sunurimal (순우리말), are the native words of the Korean vocabulary, excluding Sino-Korean words and loanwords. They are also called tobagimal (토박이말), taenmal (탯말), etc. Because native words are written only in Hangul, some people call them 'Hangul words' (한글 낱말) or 'Hangul' (한글), but this confuses a language with a writing system. Currently, some of the dong (洞) names in Seoul Special City and all of the dong names in Sejong Special Self-Governing City are native words. Native place names in South Korea include even 'Seoul' (서울).
