Housing subscription (jutaek cheongyak) is a system in which people who want to buy a home deposit a set amount of money so they can be allotted a newly offered home. Depending on the type of housing, applicants who meet certain criteria can be granted the right to purchase by lottery or by a point system. In housing subscription, priority is determined by the amount deposited in the subscription savings account and the length of the deposit period.
